TWD: Cherry Fudge Brownie Torte

Posted by C. A. - Categoriezed under: TWD

This week’s TWD hostess is April of  Short + Rose and she chose the Cherry Fudge Brownie Torte.  Unlike our lovely hostess I really prefer not to sully my chocolate with cherries (or any other kind of fruit for that matter).

After reading the recipe I really wasn’t sure if I wanted to attempt this one or not – it was a more complicated and time consuming recipe which I wasn’t certain the little prince would give me the opportunity to complete and I wouldn’t even get to enjoy the fruits of my labor.  But “Prince Charming” was very supportive and nearly insisted that I should get back on my TWD wagon…of course he absolutely loves cherries and chocolate so I think his motives may have been somewhat suspect!

TWD:Applesauce Spice Bars

Posted by C. A. - Categoriezed under: TWD

This is a truly rare event lately; I’m posting my TWD efforts for this week on time!

For today’s recipe Karen of Something Sweet by Karen picked Applesauce Spice Bars on pages 117 and118.  I know there isn’t a lick of chocolate anywhere in this recipe, but I loved the picture in the book and it was just such a comforting homey type of recipe.  Read more…

TWD: Banana Bundt Cake and Brownie Buttons

Posted by C. A. - Categoriezed under: TWD

That’s right folks, it is another TWD double header.  Unfortunately, it is a late TWD double header…I guess that makes it a WWD double header.  Not that it is really an excuse by any means, but I just can’t seem to actually be on time for much of anything lately.  So, for now, I’m operating on the premise “better late than never.”

I was actually all ready to make last week’s Banana Bundt Cake but when I checked the basket I always keep my bananas in I had an insufficient supply of over ripe bananas, in fact I had an insufficient supply of bananas period, a grand total of 2.

I thought about just using a smaller pan but I really wanted to make the bundt cake.  So I looked for a smaller bundt pan while I was out and about and had no luck there either.  So I bought some more bananas and waited (patiently I assure you) until this week to make both the Banana Bundt Cake and the adorable Brownie Buttons.

TWD: Vanilla Ice Cream

Posted by C. A. - Categoriezed under: TWD

Tuesday keeps coming around so quickly and I always seem to be posting at the last minute but at least I was able to participate this week.

This week’s TWD assignment was selected by Lynne of Cafe LynnyLu.  She chose Vanilla Ice Cream from pages 428-429 in Dorie’s book.  I’m not certain if I’ve mentioned it before, but ice cream is one of my favorite desserts, if not my very favorite.  At any given time I probably have at least a half dozen different flavors gracing my freezer and I generally have some amount of ice cream as part of my dessert every night.  While vanilla is rarely (if ever) my first choice in flavors, I knew I had to participate this week.

TWD: Coconut-Roasted Pineapple Dacquoise

Posted by C. A. - Categoriezed under: TWD

Look at that, I’ve actually managed to participate and post two weeks in a row!  I’m rather proud of that right now, of course that may not be saying too much.

This week’s selection of Coconut-Roasted Pineapple Dacquoise on pages 293-295 was made by Andrea of Andrea In The Kitchen.  I have to say this one surprised me…

TWD: Honey Peach Ice Cream

Welcome back fellow TWD’ers.  I know my participation has been somewhat spotty lately; unfortunately I expect that will likely continue until sometime after the baby is born but I will do my very best to be here and posting!

This week  Tommi of Brown Interior selected Honey-Peach Ice Cream (page 437 in Dorie’s book)…

TWD: Cinnamon Squares

Posted by C. A. - Categoriezed under: TWD

Here we are; another Tuesday and another TWD recipe.  Let’s see if I manage to remember to click the publish button this time!

This week we have Tracey of Tracey’s Culinary Adventures to thank for choosing Dorie’s Cinnamon Squares.  The picture of these squares has been calling to me every time I flipped past it in the book.  The cake looks so moist and the frosting creamy and smooth. Alas, mine did not fulfill the expectations engendered by the picture…

TWD: Chipster Topped Brownies

Posted by C. A. - Categoriezed under: TWD

*UPDATE* I’m obvioulsy a complete scatter brain.  I wrote this post on Tuesday at 9:52 PM and I THOUGHT I published it.  Obviously not since I have just discovered it has a Draft status.

It’s Tuesday again and time for TWD.  I know I’ve missed a few and I apologize to those who stopped by over the last few weeks to find nothing new at all, never mind the expected TWD posts.

I’m afraid I just haven’t been feeling up to baking recently, or up to much of anything else for that matter.  But this weekend was a nice long weekend and “Prince Charming” was out of town so I needed something to take my mind off being lonely.  This week’s Chipster Topped Brownie recipe certainly qualified.

TWD: Chocolate Cream Tart

It’s that time again, time for another TWD post.  Can you believe we have yet another chocolate recipe this week?  That makes 3 chocolate recipes in a row!

This week Kim of Scrumptious Photography chose the Chocolate Cream Tart on pages 352 and 353 of Dorie’s book.

TWD: Four Star Chocolate Bread Pudding

Posted by C. A. - Categoriezed under: TWD

First of all, I apologize to anyone that may have stopped by last week and discovered that I was MIA on Tuesday (and the entire rest of the week for that matter).  I was actually looking forward to making the 15 Minute Magic Chocolate Amaretti Torte but a lack of time and availability of ingredients at my local store made participation difficult enough to dissuade me from trying.

In fact, I very nearly missed this week too (can you believe it, two chocolate recipes in a row and I almost missed out on both!). “Prince Charming” and I have been rather immersed in a side project for the past week and a half or so; neither one of us has accomplished much of anything else.
