This week’s TWD is a recipe I’ve had my eye on for a while; it is Tarte Noir chosen by Dharmagirl of bliss: towards a delicious life (page 351).  A simple, elegant and incredibly rich chocolate tart, how could I resist?

TWD: Soft Chocolate and Raspberry Tart

Here we are, Tuesday again and I’ve somehow managed to scrape together the time to make this week’s TWD challenge (that was in doubt for a time this weekend) -  Soft Chocolate and Raspberry Tart on page 354 chosen by Rachelle of “Mommy? I’m Hungry!“.  As I’m sure you are all well aware by now, as far as I’m concerned fruit and chocolate must be strictly segregated from one another.  But at its heart this recipe was pure decadent chocolate so I felt compelled to make it.

TWD: Toasted-Coconut Custard Tart

It seems like every week Tuesday arrives more quickly – here it is again and most of the past week is a hazy sleep deprived blur. But despite my sleep deprived state I found the time and energy to make Beryl’s (of Cinemon Girl) pick: Toasted-Coconut Custard Tart on pages 344 and 345.

I have very fond memories of eating my grandmother’s coconut cream pie as a child so I was looking forward to giving this recipe a try.

TWD: French Pear Tart

Today is the very first TWD of 2009 – how exciting!

Well, to be honest, I wasn’t terribly excited.  “Prince Charming” and I arrived home in the wee hours of Saturday morning and there wasn’t much in the way of fresh food in our house after our nearly 2 week absence and I was feeling mentally and physically exhausted from travel and a number of family events.  I didn’t feel like shopping and I wasn’t feeling inspired to bake.  I thought perhaps it might be best to take a break and return to TWD next week.

But, how could I do that when Dorie herself chose to participate this week?  Dorie’s selection is the French Pear Tart (found on pages 368 and 369 of her Baking: From My Home to Yours).  I couldn’t miss out on the recipe that Dorie had selected so I wrote up my shopping list, braved the grocery store on a Saturday afternoon and spent the last day of my vacation baking…
