Here it is, 11:00pm on Tuesday night and I’m just now getting to post my TWD experience for this week – Chockablock Cookies (page 86) chosen by Mary of Popsicles and Sandy Feet. I was quite pleased to see a cookie recipe for this week – easy to whip up, very portable and excellent for sharing.
Since I need to get this post completed and published before Tuesday runs into Wednesday, let’s get right to it…

It seems I’ve been somewhat lax in my TWD participation recently; I hope to remedy that starting now. This week Melissa of Love At First Bite chose Sweet Cream Biscuits on page 23. I really wasn’t sure if I wanted to do these or not, they aren’t exactly the type of thing you bring to work to share around and we certainly didn’t need to keep them all in the house after the recent holiday excess.
But then, I had an idea…

TWD
I have a TWD double header going on this week. I really did make last week’s Dulce de Leche Duos and was all prepared to post about them on Tuesday but instead I had the pleasure of dealing with a broken refrigerator (which didn’t get fixed until the next morning anyway). After that I just never seemed to find a chance to post about the cookies until it just seemed to make more sense to combine two weeks worth of TWD into one.
And so, here we are…TWD two for one!

Here we are, Tuesday again and I’ve somehow managed to scrape together the time to make this week’s TWD challenge (that was in doubt for a time this weekend) - Soft Chocolate and Raspberry Tart on page 354 chosen by Rachelle of “Mommy? I’m Hungry!“. As I’m sure you are all well aware by now, as far as I’m concerned fruit and chocolate must be strictly segregated from one another. But at its heart this recipe was pure decadent chocolate so I felt compelled to make it.

This week Mike of Ugly Food Dude selected Thumbprints For Us Big Guys on page 164. I can’t say that thumbprint cookies have ever been a favorite of mine, but I was looking forward to giving these ones a shot. Primarily because cookies are nicely portable and easy to share with my co-workers whom I have been horribly neglecting on the baking front recently.

It seems like every week Tuesday arrives more quickly – here it is again and most of the past week is a hazy sleep deprived blur. But despite my sleep deprived state I found the time and energy to make Beryl’s (of Cinemon Girl) pick: Toasted-Coconut Custard Tart on pages 344 and 345.
I have very fond memories of eating my grandmother’s coconut cream pie as a child so I was looking forward to giving this recipe a try.

I’m sad to say the TWD chocolate streak has come to an end; it appears that there is no chocolate in sight until the middle of March (unless I make a few tweaks, which I just might!).
This week’s TWD assignment was selected by Michelle of Flourchild. She decided on the Honey-Wheat Cookies from page 81 of Dorie’s book. When I first read this recipe I thought I might omit the lemon zest and add some grated chocolate to the dough instead, but after reading the P&Q I decided to give this recipe a shot as it was written. I have since come to regret that decision…

This week’s recipe was chosen by Kait of Kait’s Plate? – My Best Chocolate Chip Cookies from page 68 of Dorie’s Baking: From My Home to Yours. I positively love chocolate chip cookies and I’m afraid I have to disagree with these being the “Best.” It’s not that they are terrible, it is hard to find a terrible chocolate chip cookie, but I did find them disappointing.

Let’s hear it for yet another chocolate recipe! This week Tanya of Chocolatechic chose Rick Katz’s Brownies for Julia on page 91 of Dorie’s book. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I have ever had a brownie that I truly didn’t like. There are brownies I don’t love, and brownies I feel the need to alter ingredients on but as far as I’m concerned brownies are just plain good eats (do I owe a royalty to Alton Brown for that one?
).
Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this week’s recipe… Read more…

Welcome to this week’s installment of TWD ! This makes 3 weeks in a row for me (after my somewhat unexpected month long absence); which might just mean I’m back on track again. Of course, it is pretty easy for me to stay on track when my fellow bakers seem to be on a chocolate streak. Seriously, I am absolutely loving our current chocolate trend.
This week, Kristin of I’m Right About Everything continued that trend with Milk Chocolate Mini Bundt Cakes (pages 188 and 189)…
