Welcome to today’s somewhat later than intended installment of TWD. This week’s recipe is Caramel Crunch Bars on pages 112-113 of Dorie’s book. We have Whitney of What’s Left on the Table to thank for this delicious selection.
Here we are – another Tuesday and another TWD post. I’m getting this posted later than I intended, but given my recent track record, I’m just glad I’m getting this posted at all.
This week Stephanie, of Confessions of a City Eater, selected the recipe with its mouthwatering photo gracing the cover of Dorie’s book for us to make; Devil’s Food White Out Cake. Despite my many ups and downs lately, I was determined to make this one…
I know I was supposed to make Floating Islands this week, and they did look lovely in the picture in Dorie’s book, but I’m afraid the extent of my cooking this weekend was throwing something in the slow cooker so “Prince Charming” would have leftovers for lunch this week.
That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t head over to Shari’s site (Whisk: a food blog) for the recipe or hit the TWD blog roll to see what everyone else did. I hope to be back with more TWD goodness next week.
But, since I didn’t make what I was supposed to and I don’t want to leave you hanging yet again, I thought I would take some time to share a new toy that I got for Christmas that is definitely great culinary fun…
I gave some serious thought as to whether or not I was really up to baking these cookies this week. Sable cookies are not my favorite type (too dry, not gooey enough) and I’m still having a difficult time finding a new sense of equilibrium to get me through the next several months (read last week’s post for more info on that). But, this was the first 100% chocolate recipe chosen in some time. How could I look the world in the eye if the recipe I chose to skip was a fully chocolate one. Simply put, I couldn’t, so I baked.
And may I just say – Woohoo! I’m so glad I did…
